John "Jonathan" R. Williams

            John "Jonathan" R. Williams was born ca 1821 in Barnwell District, SC.  He died 6 July 1895 in Hamilton County, FL. He married Mary A. Richardson, 15 September 1854, in Barnwell, SC.  She was born ca 1832 in Barnwell, SC and died after 4 August 1909 in Hamilton County, FL.  Both were buried in unmarked graves in the Prospect Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near White Springs, FL.
            Their children were:
James Robert Williams was born ca 1854 in GA and died after 1900 in Hamilton County, FL.  He married Eliza Matilda Hisler, born 6 August 1860, died 28 April 1933, High Springs, FL.
William Henry Williams was born 21 January 1855 in FL and died 19 September 1921 in Hamilton County, FL.  He married Sarah Sally Williams, born 24 August 1859 and died 3 August 1935 in Hamilton County, FL.
Luster L. Williams was born ca 1857 in FL and died early. No further record of this child.
Andrew J. Williams was born ca 1862 in FL and died early.  No further record of this child.
Lucy L. Williams was born January 1865 in FL and died 8 June 1933 in Duval County, FL.  She married Johnny N. Hurst, born January 1870 and died prior to 1910.
Josephine Williams was born 5 September 1866 in Valdosta, GA and died 30 May 1948 in Tampa, FL.

Mittie Rebecca Williams was born 12 November 1870 in FL and died 12 December 1955 in Columbia County, FL.  She married Robert Edward Roberts, 18 August 1892, in Columbia County.  He was born 14 March 1873 and died 21 June 1945 in Columbia County, FL.  They were buried in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Cora Williams was born ca 1871 in FL and died 27 November 1937 in West Palm Beach, FL.  She married Robert L. Hall. 

 John Jackson Williams was born 22 March 1872 in Hamilton County, FL and died 12 November 1944 in Columbia County, FL.  He married Nancy Rhymer, born ca 1875 and died 1918 inHamilton County, FL.
Jane Williams, born ca 1874 in FL and died early.  No further record of this child.
David Lee Williams was born 20 March 1875 in Hamilton County, FL and died 20 December 1937 at Raiford, Florida.

John "Jonathan" R. Williams was enlisted by Col. Clinch as a private in Company K, 4th Georgia Cavalry Regiment, 13 February 1863, at Waynesville, GA.  He fought under Colonel Duncan L. Clinch in the Battle of Olustee and received a minnie ball in his right shoulder.  The powder from the minnie ball exploding burned his face and eyes.  According to the military records of John R. Williams, his name appeared on a Prisoner of War List and he was surrendered to Brigadier General E. M. McCook by Major General Sam Jones, Confederate States Army, at Tallahassee, FL, 10 May 1865.  No details were given as to where and when he became a prisoner of war. He was officially paroled at Thomasville, GA, 19 May 1865.
After the death of John "Jonathan" R. Williams, his wife applied for and received a Widow's Pension from the state of Florida for her husband's Confederate service.
